Holy Spirit Baptism.

John 4:14 Here Jesus said that the water He gave would be a perpetual spring within them, giving eternal life. (NLT ) Water in the bible often is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. Notice what He says in verse 24 that those who worship God MUST worship Him in spirit and truth. The Lord said that it is the Spirit who gives life the flesh profits nothing. (6:63).

Acts 1:5- 8 Lord Jesus said to the disciples that they were going to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and that they would receive power to be His witnesses. We see the that power in manifestation through out the book of Acts.

Acts 2:1-4 The Holy Spirit was given to the disciples ( all together about 120 people ). They were ALL filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues ( languages ) as the Spirit gave them utterance ( words ).

The question is did everybody who received the Holy Spirit speak in other tounges. The answer is yes.

Acts 10 starting at verse 34 we see that Peter begins to preach to Cornelius and all who were with him at his house. We see from 45-48 that the believing Jews were amazed that the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. How did they know that, because they heard them speak with tongues and glorify God.

Acts 19:1-6 Paul found some disciples in Ephesus, they had not received the Holy Spirit, so Paul baptized them in the name of Jesus, then he laid his hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit and the evidence of that is that they spoke in tongues and prophesied. Praise God.

1 Corinthians 14:2 Paul said that he who speaks in tongues does not speak to men but to God, and that he speaks the secrets of God. In verse 14 says that if I pray in tongues my spirit prays ( which is given words by the Holy Spirit within me ). In verse 4 he says that he he speaks in tongues edifies himself ( builds himself up ). In verse 18 he says I thank my God that I speak with tongues more than you all. ( the whole church of Corinth ). In verse 39 he says do not forbid to speak with tongues.

Why did Paul say don’t forbid to speak or pray in tongues. There are many reasons, lets look at them. In Ephesians 6:18 we see that praying in the Spirit is apart of the armor of God. This is why Paul said that he and we are to pray without ceasing. He did this in many of his letters. We cant pray without ceasing without the Holy Spirit.

In Jude 1:20-21 we see that praying in the Spirit builds us up and keeps us in the love of God.

In Romans 8:26-28 we see that The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us. But God knows what is in the mind of the Holy Spirit. Therefore we know that all things will work for our good, why because ths Holy Spirit prays for us and the saints that is according to God’s will.

There is one more thing that is much more important than all we have just read.

In Romans chapters 7 and 8 we see the contrast between the law and the Spirit, in 7:6 reads we have been delivered from the law, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit. We also see that in these 2 chapters were we read words law and flesh, they are relating to the law. Verse 2 of chapter 8 says that the law of the Spirit of life has made me free from the law of sin and death. ( Spirit here refers to the Holy Spirit ). Those who have the Holy Spirit have the righteous requirement of the law fulfilled in them. Who do not walk ( or live ) according to the flesh ( law ) but by the Spirit – verse 4. Verse 9 says that if the Spirit of Christ is not in you that you are not His. Verse 11 says that the Spirit will give life to your mortal body, thats divine health. Verse 16-17 say that the Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we the children of God, and if children than joint heirs ( equal ) with Christ. Praise God.

In Ephesians 1:13-14 we see that the when we receive Holy Spirit that we are sealed with Him and that He is the guarantee of our salvation. Paul also says this in 2 Corinthians 1:22.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ESSENTIAL FOR OUR SALVATION. Speaking in other tongues is the evidence of the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

THE TRUE GOSPRL IS: REPENT, BAPTISM IN WATER, BAPTISM WITH HOLY SPIRIT. Our spiritual birth is also simular to our natural birth. Jesus often used natural things to describe the kingdom of God. In John 3 He said to be born again one must be born of water and the Spirit. In the natural when a child is concieved by the seed of the father it is then born in water but when it comes out of the water we know that the baby is alive because of the cry. The bible says that we cry Abba, Father. Romans 8. When that natural baby is born the mother knows it’s cry even if there are many other baby’s present crying. So it is with those who receive Holy Spirit cry out and the Father says that’s my child.

God Bless you as you study this and except the word of God as the word of God.
